Amy Warren

Amy Warren holds a Doctorate in Education from HGSE, and two Master's Degrees: an Individualized Ed.M. from HGSE and an M.A. in Special Education from Teacher's College, Columbia University. Her Bachelor's Degree is in Elementary Education from the College of William and Mary. During her seven years as a special education teacher in Greenwich, Connecticut and Arlington, Virginia, she encountered children from a wide range of cultural, socioeconomic and linguistic backgrounds.

She has worked with children and their parents with varying degrees of numeracy, literacy and severity of learning challenges. Amy's interests lie in assessment issues and with helping general and special educators better accommodate the special needs children in their classrooms. Amy's thesis was called Evaluating the evaluator: An examination of two new methods for evaluating the skills of the special education teacher as dynamic assessor. Her introduction to dynamic assessment methods began after she authored MATHPLAN while studying with Judah Schwartz at HGSE. She is now an Educational Diagnostician in Charles County, Maryland, with her husband and three children.
